Matthew Nicola, M.D.
Dr. Nicola, a native Texan, received a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A & M University. He attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. After earning his medical degree, Dr. Nicola completed his Residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Conroe and became Board Certified in 1999. Dr. Nicola is currently on staff at Methodist and North Central Baptist Hospitals.
Dr. Nicola served in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman/Navy S.E.A.L. and most recently as a Family Practitioner/Diving Medical Officer. He and his wife Shemaine have two daughters. Dr. Nicola enjoys marathon running and competing in triathlons.
Stephen Vreeke, M.D.
Dr. Vreeke received a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University. He attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. After earning his medical degree, Dr. Vreeke completed his Residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and became Board Certified in 1998. Dr. Vreeke served in the United States Air Force as a Family Physician/Flight Surgeon.
Dr. Vreeke is currently on staff at Christus Santa Rosa, New Braunfels.
David Hoefer, M.D.
Dr. David Hoefer is a native Texan who has been in private practice in the northwest Houston area since 1999. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1992 with a BA in Biology before attending the University of Texas Medical Branch with Dr. Nicola and Dr. Vreeke. After medical school, Dr. Hoefer completed his residency at UTMB-Conroe and has been board certified in Family Medicine since 1999. He is married, has three children and loves spending time in the hill country and scuba diving.
Jose A. Martinez, Jr. PA-C
Mr. Martinez received a Bachelor of Science Degree with a Physician Assistant Major from The University of George Washington, Washington, D. C. He obtained a Master of Physician Assistant Studies with a Specialization in Family Medicine from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska.
Mr. Martinez has been a practicing PA since 1994. His experience includes Urgent Care, Geriatric and Family Medicine. He cares for patients of all ages and has an interest in Geriatric Medicine and Diabetes Management.
Mr. Martinez served 24 years in the United States Navy before retiring. He enjoys hunting, fishing and cycling. Both he and his wife of 28 yrs enjoy world travel.
A native of South Texas, Mr. Martinez speaks Spanish.
John Abshier, PA-C
Mr. Abshier began his medical career as a Special Forces medic in 1978 before attending the US Army Physician Assistant program. In 1992, he received his Bachelor of Science degree from its affiliate university, University of Oklahoma, as well as completed the Army Flight Surgeon Course. He retired from the military in 1998 and moved to San Antonio where he worked at the San Antonio Military Medical Center through December 1 2015, specializing in Internal Medicine.
He and his wife, Carolyn have been married since 1983 and have a son and a daughter.
They enjoy living in the Hill Country, spending time outdoors and with family, and traveling. Mr. Abshier also enjoys hunting, fishing, and reading.
Nicole Piedimonte, PA-C
Mrs. Piedimonte received her Bachelors of Science in Preprofessional Biology and Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Graceland University in Iowa. After living in Costa Rica for a year after graduation, she completed her Masters degree from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in Chicago to become a Physician Assistant. She has a special interest in Wellness and empowering patients to use nutrition and lifestyle to achieve health.
She moved from Chicago to Texas with her husband, two daughters and two dogs and is enjoying all the time spent outdoors. With any spare time she enjoys reading, cooking/baking and DIY projects.
Lisa Boone, PA-C
Ms. Boone is a native of San Antonio. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Trinity University, and a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. She has a special interest in healthcare access for all populations; while in Galveston she volunteered at the St. Vincent’s clinic, took several student led medical trips to the US Mexico border, and studied medicine at clinical rotations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Ms. Boone speaks some Spanish. She has been practicing as a physician assistant since 2004, with specialty areas in surgery, family practice, urgent care and occupational medicine. She enjoys counseling patients one on one, and sees medicine as a holistic balance between lifestyle choices, genetics and medical interventions.
In her free time, Ms. Boone enjoys hiking, quilting and traveling with her husband and their vizsla.
Ms. Becky Gorham
After graduation from the University of Iowa, Ms. Gorham began her career in medicine as a National Health Corp Scholar, practicing at a Community
Health Center.
She eventually moved on to become the primary provider at a rural, hospital-owned primary care clinic in Illinois for the better part of a decade, where she enjoyed all of the seasons, including the snow. She is the proud mama of a Law Enforcement Officer who also served our country in the United States Army.
Ms. Gorham came to Texas in 2016, to live closer
to her son and daughter-in-law, and fell in love with the beautiful hillcountry and wonderful community Texas has to offer.
Her life has been blessed with loving kids, and many four-legged family members. With twenty-seven years of devotion and experience as a PA-C, she finds the most rewarding part of her career is in seeing her patients make positive changes within their own lives and overall health, and having the
opportunity to have played a small role in helping them to achieve those goals.
In her spare time, she can be found, as always, watching an episode of I Love Lucy, listening to classic country or southern rock music, and making memories with her wonderful son and daughter, and the many furry members in the family.
